DIANE CASTILLO
Senior Caseworker II
Delaware County Employee of the Month
August 2021
Diane Castillo was hired on 8/28/17 as a Caseworker Trainee
with DSS. On 10/3/2018 she became a Caseworker. On
4/19/2021 due to her performance she was promoted to Senior
Caseworker II.
Diane supervises and trains four caseworkers responsible for
Foster Care and Preventive Services. She accompanies her
workers to Family Court, tracks the completion of their
work, and ensures that her workers manage all services to
families and record them in the NYS computer system. She
ensures that she is available for daily problem solving for
her workers as plans for the day are constantly changing and
new priorities constantly need to be set. Diane provides
on-call work after hours to ensure families have someone to
help resolve on call issues.
Diane is an exceptional employee and has time and again
shown great strengths in her job capabilities. Diane is
flexible, reliable and thoroughly committed to our work and
the agency’s mission. Diane doesn’t work the standard
“8am-4pm” workday and will adjust her schedule to meet the
needs of the families she is involved with. When Diane is
asked to complete a task, she does so without hesitation or
complaint. She consistently demonstrates her willingness to
do what needs to be done to ensure that her client’s needs
are addressed and the children on her caseload are safe and
feel comfortable. Diane goes above and beyond for her
clients, as well as her coworkers. She has an extensive
knowledgebase that includes services available in the
community and Social Services policy/procedure. For Diane,
each day is a learning experience and she is always
receptive to obtaining new skills. Diane is independent and
she has great initiative. If she is unsure of something,
she will seek a resolution on her own before seeking outside
assistance. Diane takes pride in the work that she has done
and continues to do, the relationships she has built, and
the families/children that she has served. The Department
is proud of Diane and her accomplishments.
Diane like the interaction with her workers, their assigned
families, and her coworkers at DSS. She is a good listener,
and this enables her to help others to make plans and
resolve family issues.
Diane states her family is very supportive of her need to
work late nights and on call as assigned.
Congratulations and Thank You Diane on a job well done!
