Connie began her employment with Delaware County on March 18, 1996
as a Clerk for the Department of Public Works. At DPW, she also held
the titles of Typist and Account Clerk. On February 6, 2006, she
transferred from DPW to the District Attorney’s Office when the
District Attorney hired her for the position of Legal Secretary.
Her job duties at the District Attorney’s Office primarily include
working with the two Assistant District Attorneys on cases and
traffic tickets in all towns and village courts in Delaware County.
Connie prepares discovery responses, motions and appeals, while also
managing a large part of the traffic ticket correspondence flowing
through the office each day.
As District Attorney Northrup says, “although she was highly
recommended and had ten years’ legal secretarial experience in
Washington, DC, I was sincerely concerned that she could do the work
generated by two attorneys. Most legal offices have at least one or
two secretaries to do the work for each attorney. Connie, however,
is not only able to do the work for both Assistant District
Attorneys but shares in answering the phones and handles other
duties as well. I was pleasantly surprised when she hit the ground
running. I have never since doubted her ability to handle her work
load promptly, efficiently and very competently. Delaware County is
extremely well served by Connie Watson and she should certainly be
commended for her many years of faithful and superior service.”
Connie’s greatest asset is her ability to get along with people.
She’s a pleasure to have in the office and is friendly and
informative to anyone who stops in or calls on the phone. She
invariably interacts both sensitively and professionally with
victims, law enforcement officers, lawyers and judges. And, DA
Northrup adds, “An unexpected bonus is that she’s a terrific cook
and brings in baked goods and other treats on people’s birthdays and
holidays.”
What Connie likes most about her job is that there is never a dull
moment. The office handles a very large workload and she never
knows what the day will entail. She also enjoys the people she
works with calling them always kind, caring, courteous and
professional.
Connie and her husband, Alan, have two grown children, a son and a
daughter, and two grandchildren. Her hobbies include cooking and
baking, jigsaw puzzles and music.
Congratulations and thank you, Connie, for a job well done.
