Auditor for the Public Health Nursing Service on March 25, 2002.
In the twelve years that Sarah
has worked for Delaware County she has demonstrated a strong work
ethic. She is dependable, takes the initiative to learn new things
and maintains a sense of humor as she navigates through the
complexities of the changing world of heath care.
Sarah enrolled in a six month
part-time ICD-9 coding course in 2003 and successfully passed the
national certification exam in 2004. She is a member of the
nationally recognized American Academy of Professional Coders. Her
expertise in this area assures that Public Health is billing
appropriately and maximizes revenue. Sarah is currently taking
update courses to be ready for the ICD-10 coding process which
starts in October of this year. Sarah demonstrates adaptability in
quickly learning the new billing roles in a variety of Public Health
programs.
Sarah worked in the Public Health
Nursing Department’s Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA) until its
sale in 2012. Sarah was responsible for billing services provided
by both the CHHA and Long Term Health Program (LTHHCP), scheduled
the Home Health Aide visits and supervised support staff. Sarah
worked with HCR, the agency that purchased the CHHA and LTHHCP, to
complete the crossover billing associated with the sale of the
agency. She maintained a professional demeanor throughout the
difficult transition period of the CHHA closure. HCR staff sent a
letter to the Public Health Director commending Sarah for her
excellent work on claims during the transition.
Sarah has exceptional people
skills and is well-liked by clients, professionals and her
co-workers. She recognizes the importance of employee recognition
in strengthening job satisfaction and employee retention and has
been a cheerful, bubbly co-chair for the Employee Recognition
Committee at Public Health. Sarah is also a member of the Corporate
Compliance Committee and assists with the Rabies Clinics and
Immunization Clinics.
Sarah enjoys working for Public
Health and being able to help the people in the County she has
always lived in.
Sarah has been married to her
husband Ray for twenty-five years and has two children. She and her
family enjoy spending time at their seasonal camp near Cooperstown.
Thank you, Sarah, for a job well
done.
