KIM ZUPO
Delaware County Employee of the Month
November 2012
Kim Zupo
was hired by the Delaware County Department of Social
Services in December, 2004 as a typist. She was promoted in
November, 2005 to Senior Typist. A year later in November,
2006 she was promoted again to Social Service Program
Specialist Trainee. Following a year in the trainee
position Kim was promoted again to Social Services Program
Specialist, the position she has held for the past 5 years.
As a
Social Services Program Specialist Kim determines
eligibility for the Medicaid Program, Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program, Public Assistance and several emergency
programs. Kim conducts interviews with families and
individuals and then analyzes whether applicants meet all
the eligibility criteria to receive benefits under the
program or programs they are applying for. Kim also
conducts a number of recertification interviews each month
as current cases end their eligibility time limits and must
reapply for continuation of their benefits.
Kim
enjoys a number of close relationships with staff at the
Department and feels that her professional life is enhanced
by the quality of the colleagues she has at work. In
addition, Kim is a real “people” person and truly enjoys
working with the public and assisting them to better meet
challenges they have in their lives. She sees the helping
role of Social Services as fulfilling for her professional
goals.
Kim is
married to Tony Zupo, a local contractor. The rest of the
family is a recently rescued lab/pit bull/akita mix and 3
rather pesky cats.
Kim owns
and rides, as frequently as life permits, a Harley Soft Tail
motorcycle and that is the “greatest”.
Congratulations, Kim.
