ROBIN ALGER
Delaware County Employee of the Month
May 2012
Robin began her employment with
Delaware County on August 14, 2000 as Receptionist in the
Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. On July
14, 2004, Robin transferred to the Board of Elections and on
August 1, 2004, she was appointed Deputy Commissioner by the
Delaware County Republican Committee.
Robin shares the responsibilities of
the office with the Democratic Deputy Commissioner Paula
Schermerhorn. Responsibilities include overseeing all Town,
County, State and Federal elections for Delaware County,
registration of voters, maintaining the New York State
database system, training election inspectors, maintaining
absentee ballots, creating petitions for candidates and poll
books. They also make sure all testing, sample, absentee
and official ballots are created correctly, ordered and
processed on time. Robin maintains the financial aspects of
the office including vouchers, grants and the financial
reports to New York State.
Robin has mastered every facet of the
work of the Board of Elections. Elections Commissioner,
William Campbell states, “I am proud of her work at the
Board of Elections. Whether the job is a complex problem or
a simple task, she carries every job to fruition. She is
hard working and intelligent, and serves the public with
good cheer and fairness.”
What Robin enjoys most about her job is
teaching the inspectors, keeping up with the ever changing
election law and knowing that our elections are honest and
accurate.
Robin is an active member of her
church. She has been married to her husband Mark for over
thirty years and they live in Walton. Her hobbies include
gardening, landscaping, reading, needlework, PBR and
traveling.
