ROBIN ALGER

Delaware County Employee of the Month
May 2012

Robin began her employment with Delaware County on August 14, 2000 as Receptionist in the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors.  On July 14, 2004, Robin transferred to the Board of Elections and on August 1, 2004, she was appointed Deputy Commissioner by the Delaware County Republican Committee.

Robin shares the responsibilities of the office with the Democratic Deputy Commissioner Paula Schermerhorn.  Responsibilities include overseeing all Town, County, State and Federal elections for Delaware County, registration of voters, maintaining the New York State database system, training election inspectors, maintaining absentee ballots, creating petitions for candidates and poll books.  They also make sure all testing, sample, absentee and official ballots are created correctly, ordered and processed on time.  Robin maintains the financial aspects of the office including vouchers, grants and the financial reports to New York State.

Robin has mastered every facet of the work of the Board of Elections.  Elections Commissioner, William Campbell states, “I am proud of her work at the Board of Elections.  Whether the job is a complex problem or a simple task, she carries every job to fruition.  She is hard working and intelligent, and serves the public with good cheer and fairness.”

What Robin enjoys most about her job is teaching the inspectors, keeping up with the ever changing election law and knowing that our elections are honest and accurate.

Robin is an active member of her church.  She has been married to her husband Mark for over thirty years and they live in Walton.  Her hobbies include gardening, landscaping, reading, needlework, PBR and traveling.

Congratulations, Robin, and thank you for a job well-done.
