CHRISTOPHER MATTHEWS
Delaware County Employee of the Month
April 2012
Christopher Matthews began his employment
with Delaware County as a seasonal laborer at the Department of
Public Works during the summers of 1998, 1999 and 2000. In January
2001, Chris served at DPW as a Temporary Engineering Aide. July 31,
2001, Chris was appointed GIS Technician for the Planning Department
and also began serving as a per diem Corrections Officer on December
22, 2002. On September 14, 2003, Chris chose to make a career
change and accepted a full-time position as Corrections Officer.
Corrections Officer Matthews is assigned to
the Monitoring System in the Correction Facility’s Control Room. He
also serves in the Intake area booking in prisoners and may be
called upon to serve as Officer-In-Charge during his shift. Chris
likes how the legal system works and is confident and capable in
dealing with high stress situations.
Chris has been an active member of the Delhi
Fire Department. He is classified as a Class A Interior Firefighter
and serves on the Rapid Intervention Team, including working atop
the aerial ladder.
Chris has a significant other, Jill Ogden,
and a six year old son Gavin. His parents are Robert and Susan
Matthews.
According to the Sheriff, Chris is a “take
charge, and get it done” kind of guy. He is calm, cool and
collected during a crisis; and quick to assume authority and solve
problems as needed. Chris is a valuable employee who can be counted
upon to give his best effort and is always willing to expand his
knowledge and responsibilities.
Congratulations, Chris, and thank you for a
job well-done.
