Jane Piasek joined Delaware County Public
Health as a per diem Registered Nurse on January 18, 2005. During
her three years as a per diem nurse, Jane provided weekend on-call
coverage for patients of all ages ranging from maternal and child
health to services for the elderly. On February 24, 2008 she was
appointed to permanent full time status.
Currently, Jane is responsible for
coordinating the immunization program, providing technical
assistance to schools and medical offices. She works in the rabies
program, including dog bite calls, animal to animal and animal to
human exposures. She also provides communicable disease follow-up.
Jane likes to understand the “big picture”
including the World Health Organization, CDC, state and local
regulations and how they impact services for our clients. She loves
the challenges of three programs, developing partnerships with
providers and other Counties, and learning new things.
Jane lives in Roxbury with her husband Joe.
They have four grown children; three have graduated from college and
are pursuing advanced degrees. One daughter is pursing a Masters’
Degree in Public Health at the University of Hawaii. The fourth is
currently attending college. Jane’s hobbies include the arts and
she is a Board member and Treasurer of the Roxbury Arts Group.
Jane and Joe donated space which they renovated for the Roxbury
Radio Station WIOV, and are actively pursuing grant funding.
Jane was nominated for the Employee of the
Month award because of her passion and dedication for the mission of
Public Health. She researches and stays current on all her program
areas. Jane will go the extra mile, come in early and stay late, to
bring programs, information and resources to the County.
Congratulations, Jane, for this
well-deserved recognition.
