coworkers, was originally hired as a Typist for the Delaware County
Department of Social Services on July 28, 1986. Shortly thereafter,
she was promoted to Account Clerk Typist. Within a year she was
again promoted to Senior Typist. During a state–local title review,
her position was reclassified and upgraded to Child Support
Collection Investigator. Margaret has worked her entire career at
Social Services performing child support functions.
Margaret’s responsibilities are to manage
her data base of approximately 1,000 child support collection
accounts. She manages these accounts by posting payments, changing

respondent and employer inquiries. Margaret also performs intake
functions for new accounts applying for collection services. She
assists clients with the process for establishing paternity for
children when parentage is either unknown or has not been indicated
at the time of birth. She also assists parents with the process of
applying for child support from an absent parent.

of its very nature. She loves children and knows that life may be a
struggle when both parents are not financially participating in the
process of raising a child. She finds the work challenging and
never boring. She takes pride completing a successful case.
Margaret enjoys the company of her coworkers every work day. She
appreciates their humor, sensitivity and dedication to the child
support mission.
Margaret is the mother to three children.
Today, she is also the grandparent to four children with 2 living
locally and 2 in North Carolina.
Margaret has been an EMT volunteer for the
Franklin Emergency Squad and Fire Department for 38 years. This
challenging role has fulfilled Margaret’s outside interests as she
takes an active and important role in supporting her community.
Margaret was nominated by her coworkers for
Employee of the Month because of her longstanding consistency to
child support work. She brings a balance and determination to the
job that makes her an effective staff member. Over the years, she
has assisted Delaware County maintain a quality child support
program that annually collects about $6 M while managing the
