Alfretta began working for the County as an
Account Clerk Typist on April 1, 1991. She has served as a BICS Operator and as
a Senior Account Clerk Typist.
Currently, Alfretta
reviews, audits and processes all program related accounts payable
for the Department of Social Services, most notably Public
Assistance, HEAP and Medicaid as well as most emergency programs.
She provides backup to the other accounting staff for services and
administrative accounts payable as well as the BICS processing
system. She also assists with equipment and supply orders for all
the Department’s needs.
Known to all as Sis, Alfretta is among the
County’s most punctual employees and takes pride in almost never being late for
work even on our most challenging inclement days. She works in a small,
five person accounting unit that manages more than $25 million each year and
accounts for it to the penny.
She works diligently to keep her workload current
and is always available to assist others when their workload increases. She is
an expert at this, too, because there have been various extended periods of time
when the unit has had to function with just four staff and they were able to
keep overtime to a very modest amount.
Sis likes new
challenges and thinks hard about work around solutions to improve
effectiveness and efficiency. She tries each day to stay on
top of her work. We find that she represents the best of what
our expectations are for a valued, trusted and appreciated
colleague.
Sis has six children and enjoys her eight grandchildren. Her
husband, Paul, is retired. She loves bowling, and has 50 years
invested in the sport. In spring, summer and fall, her flower
gardens are her passion. She is also an avid fan of dirt auto
racing.
When asked what she likes most about her job, Sis
says she thoroughly enjoys the work environment, particularly her co-workers who
make work enjoyable.Congratulations, Alfretta, and thank you.
