JIM
THOMAS
Delaware County Employee of the Month
June
2008
Jim was hired as Assistant Civil Engineer on May 28, 1999 and
promoted to Civil Engineer in February, 2004.
Jim is a very dedicated, hardworking and
conscientious person. His current responsibilities include design of
retaining walls, roads and bridges and other engineering tasks as
required. He is always willing to help the Engineering Department in
any way. Whether it’s layout of plans or testing concrete, Jim is
always there and never complains no matter what task is given him.
Recently, Jim has been the Engineering
Department’s coordinator for the flood that devastated County Route 7.
He has done a remarkable job on County Route 7, demonstrating leadership
and commitment by coordinating all aspects of repairing this road and
dealing with the many contractors, employees and residents.
In addition to the ten to twelve hour days spent
working on County Route 7’s flood work, Jim has also been able to keep
up with the layouts of other projects the Engineering Department has in
process.
What Jim likes most about the job is the
day-to-day changes, and being able to do something different every day.
He enjoys doing things and making decisions that improve Delaware
County’s road and bridge system.
Jim and his wife, Heather, have two children,
daughter Caila, 3, and son Cole, 10 months. Jim enjoys snowmobiling,
yard work, basketball and being a hermit.
Congratulations, Jim and thank you.
